BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – A rock climber has died and another was injured in two separate incidents west of Boulder on Sunday.
Boulder Canyon had to be closed as search and rescue teams responded. The rock climber, identified as a 28-year-old man, died after falling down the canyon wall and landing on the road in front of a group of people. He was reportedly with the group and was trying to make way across top of a rock formation called Boulderado to set up a rope. He was not roped in.
Not far away from the fatal fall rescuers were trying to reach a hiker with two broken legs near Sugarloaf.
Highway 119 had to be closed for rescue operations. It was reopened around 6 p.m.
