Signatures For 2 Colorado Ballot Proposals Under Review

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler says all signatures submitted in support of a campaign-finance measure and a proposed ban on abortion will undergo review before either one can make the ballot.

Before a measure goes before voters, the Secretary of State's Office typically reviews a sample of signatures supporting it to project whether the required 86,105 signatures were collected. If the sample suggests the number of collected signatures falls between 90 percent and 110 percent of the required number, the office must review all the signatures.

Gessler's office said Monday that based on a sample, the abortion measure was projected to have 85,800 valid signatures, and the campaign-finance measure, Initiative 82, was projected to have 90,935, requiring full reviews.

The office has until Sept. 5 for the reviews.
