QEP Pays $1.2M For Keeping Inaccurate Records

DENVER (AP) — Natural gas and oil company QEP Resources Inc. has paid a $1.2 million fine for inaccurate royalty and production reports for oil and gas wells in Colorado and Utah.

The U.S. Department of the Interior said Thursday that the Denver-based company failed to correct reports for 35 leases after assuring the government that it would.

It said the civil penalty was issued against the company in early July and the company is now correcting the reports. They date from March 2008 through December 2009.

QEP operates in the Rocky Mountain region and the Midwest.
