LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – Picking up trash is a dirty job, and on Wednesday it was dangerous for two garbage truck workers in Lakewood.
There was an explosion on board the truck that required a hazmat crew to clean up. It happened just after 10 a.m. near Kentucky and Harlan. The workers were compacting trash in the back of the truck when there was a boom followed by a vapor cloud.
West Metro Fire said it appeared to be hydrochloric acid in a bleach container. The men are out of the hospital and are said to be okay.
