Denver Country Club Neighborhood On Alert Over Attempted Abductions

DENVER (CBS4)- People who live in the Denver Country Club neighborhood are on alert after police claim a man tried to abduct two different women on Tuesday.

The two incidents happened in the neighborhood of 5th Avenue and High Street. Two women involved in separate incidents told police a man in a car approached and tried to grab them.

The attempted abductions happened just minutes apart and just one block apart. Both women escaped.

Police are searching for an Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s who is driving a Nissan Maxima with a loud muffler and orange tape on the license plate.

Neighbors are keeping a close eye on anyone suspicious coming into their neighborhood.

"I am concerned. I have two stepdaughters who are 12 and 14 and right now they're getting ready to go back to school and they're walking to the mall and I've told them to walk in pairs and take a different route for now," said one parent.

"I think these things can happen in any neighborhood. I'm surprised it happened here because it's so not the norm. If people know they'll just be a little more vigilant looking around," said another.

Police are asking for information from anyone who may have been in the neighborhood on Tuesday or may have seen the suspect.
