Family, Friends Hold BBQ To Raise Money For Train Accident Victim

MONUMENT, Colo. (CBS4) - Family and friends got together Sunday to raise money for a teenager who was the victim of a horrific accident.

Luke Hiser's legs were severed after being run over by a train last weekend in Monument. Two teens just happened to find the 17-year-old in trouble and called for help.

On Sunday people came together for a barbecue to support him. They say they want him to know how much they are thinking about him during his recovery.

"We are selling shirts, we have tons of food, we're just basically throwing a barbecue because we want to show him how much he's loved," friend Mariah Welsh said.

Hiser is the co-captain of the golf team at Palmer Ridge High School. He's expected to walk again and maybe even be able to play golf.
