Boy Scouts To Miss Camping Trip After Gear Trailer Stolen

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (CBS4) - A Boy Scouts troop in Greenwood Village is pleading for help after someone stole their trailer full of gear worth thousands of dollars.

Members of Troop 457 say they can't believe someone took off with the trailer. It was sitting in the parking lot of the Greenwood Village Community Church at the time and was clearly marked with a Boy Scout logo. Inside was all the gear the boys need for an upcoming camping trip.

"We all felt really sad, like we're missing something that's part of our troop," Scout Zach Pearson said.

"It was hard to explain to them and try and get them to understand what Boy Scouts teaches -- honesty, integrity, loyalty, and that's now been taken from them," Troop Leader Benjamin Valdez said.

The trailer itself is worth about $5,000, but it had thousands of dollars worth of camping gear inside.

Anyone with information is asked to call Greenwood Village police.
