FOUNTAIN, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Fountain are hunting for the people who vandalized a city-owned cemetery.
A total of 27 tombstones have been vandalized since the beginning of the month, with 24 in recent days.
Some of the tombstones that have been targeted date back to the 1800s but newer graves have also been attacked.
“It made me kind of sick that someone wouldn’t have respect, but whatever the reason I hope they don’t do it again,” said Adan Flores, who visits the cemetery almost every day.
Flores says more people are now stopping by the cemetery to keep an eye on things and police have stepped up patrols.
If the vandals are found they face felony charges.
