Police Say 'Felony Lane Gang' Targeting Arvada Area

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Arvada are warning about an increase in car break-ins across the city, and they think transient thieves are responsible.

The car break-ins are happening at dog parks, day cares, and the YMCA -- all in Arvada.

The thieves are stealing checks and photo IDs so they can cash bad checks at banks. Police say the bandits are part of a group known as the "Felony Lane Gang." Members of the group have been arrested recently in Connecticut, Alabama, and Nebraska.

The Felony Lane Gang name comes from how the thieves cash their checks at banks by using the outer-most drive through lane to make themselves harder to see.
