Franklin Finishes 4th In 200-Meter Freestyle

LONDON (CBS4/AP) -- Colorado's Missy Franklin will have to wait a little longer to add to her medal count.

On Tuesday, Franklin finished 4th in the 200-meter freestyle at the London Games.

The event is not considered one of Franklin's strongest.  After the finals she tweeted that she had given it all she had, but just came up short. Franklin still has 4 more events in these games.

Allison Schmitt of the United States set an Olympic record to claim the gold.

Schmitt clocked 1 minute, 53.61 seconds, shaving more than a second off the mark set by Italy's Federica Pellegrini four years ago in Beijing.

The 400-meter champion Camille Muffat of France touched in 1:55.58 to take the silver and Bronte Barratt of Australia finished in 1:55.81 to get bronze.
