2 Dead, 3 Injured In Crash Near Westcliffe

WESTCLIFFE, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado State Patrol says a six-vehicle crash in a construction zone near Westcliffe has left two people dead and at least three others injured.

Troopers say five vehicles were stopped on Colorado Highway 69 in an active construction zone Tuesday when a tractor-trailer collided with the last vehicle in line. The tractor-trailer went off the road, struck a construction worker and then rolled on its top. The initial crash also caused a chain reaction of rear-end crashes of the stopped vehicles.

The State Patrol says the tractor-trailer driver and the construction worker died at the scene.

At least three people in the other vehicles were taken to a hospital in Pueblo.
