CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)– More than 30 rescuers searching for a missing hiker on Mt. Bierstadt made a sad discovery Wednesday afternoon. Crews said it appears the man they were searching for fell to his death.
The 32-year-old man called his wife at about noon Tuesday from the summit of Mt. Bierstadt. That was the last time anyone heard from him.
Crews launched a search Tuesday and a Colorado National Guard Black Hawk helicopter also assisted in the search.
The Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office said the man was hiking alone.
His body was found in the Sawtooth Ridge Area. Crews began working on recovering his body Wednesday afternoon.
The official cause of death will be determined by the coroner.
