LEADVILLE, Colo. (CBS4) – A man who led deputies on a chase across the mountains was shot and killed by officers.
The chase started Saturday morning in Leadville. Lake County officials say a deputy spotted Jacob Vanderbeek, 18, speeding and then tossing what appeared to be a grenade out his window.
According to police Vanderbeek headed down Highway 285 to Villa Grove where he crashed and was then was shot and killed by authorities.
The chase spanned 80 miles across three counties.
