DENVER (CBS4)- In the wake of devastating wildfires this summer in Colorado, broadcast media from across the state joined forces to host a live fundraiser on Wednesday, July 11, to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief efforts in Colorado and to benefit the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation.
They raised $220,000 thanks to listeners and viewers calling to donate. The total of the donations online and through other means haven’t been tallied yet.
One hundred percent of the proceeds raised will go directly to the Colorado chapters of the American Red Cross and the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation.
Rocky Mountain PBS, Colorado Public Television, Aspen Public Radio, KUVO, KUNC and KRCC joined Denver commercial television stations 9NEWS, 7NEWS, Azteca Colorado, CBS4, KDVR, KWGN and KDEN Telemundo Denver for a live fundraiser, Wednesday, July 11, from 4-8 p.m. The Colorado Broadcasters Association also promoted the fundraiser on radio stations across the state by encouraging listeners to call in to make a donation.
Donations can be made anytime at 1-800-RED-CROSS or 303-722-7474
