AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora are asking for help in finding the suspect who shot a pastor on July 4.

Police were called out to the shooting at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of Nome Street in Aurora. When they arrived they found a 51-year-old man who had been shot. He was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers said before shots were fired, the shooting victim drove into the parking lot of an apartment complex and parked. That’s when two suspects approached on foot and accosted the victim while he was seated in the vehicle.

The victim was pulled out of his car and a fight began between him and the suspects. One of the suspects shot at the victim, striking him in the leg. The suspects ran away on foot and were last seen in the area of East 19th Avenue and Peoria Street.

The first suspect is described as an Hispanic man in his late teens to early 20s, 5-foot-11, 180 pounds and short hair.

The second suspect is also an Hispanic man with no description other than skinny.

Although the pastor works with youth in the community, it is not believed that the suspects and victim knew each other.

Police detectives are examining surveillance video of the incident from a security camera but the footage is blurry.
