Veterinarian Moves From Job At Disney To CSU
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – Colorado State University has a new dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Veterinarian Dr. Mark Stetter is moving the university after spending 15 years working for the Walt Disney.
“Disney was a wonderful place to work,” Stetter told CBS4 Morning News anchors Brooke Wagner and Alan Gionet this week. “I learned a lot and appreciated all the things they do for their guests and animals and conservation.”
But he said now was the time to move, and CSU seemed like a perfect fit.
“I’m all about connecting people with animals and nature. CSU just does a phenomenal job … does that and does that with all these bright, young students and researchers. It’s a great way to take my career to the next level.”
Stetter said the university is on track for a groundbreaking to rebuild the Equine Reproductive Lab. A fire destroyed it last year.
He said the center does more than simply help horses and their owners.
“It provides an incredible service from horse reproduction and from things we learn to help humans, it’s been very important.”
“This place has not only helped some just incredible, unique lines of horses that have gone on to do great things, provide a service to teaching from the students and the veterinary students that are learning but the things we’ve learned to assist reproduction and fertility and those efforts have helped humans.”
Stetter said he really wants to make sure everyone understands just what a great place the CSU Vet School really is.
“If you go to other veterinarian schools around the country you will be told CSU is just wonderful. If you go to researchers, you’ll be told how we’re one of the best in the world. But I don’t know that we’ve done a great job telling the folks on the streets of Denver, LA to New York what a phenomenal place it is if you want to go to school there, if you want to do research, if you need a service as far as animals who might have cancer, might need medical care.
“We’re one stop shopping for all those things.”
