MEEKER, Colo. (CBS4) – Sen. Mark Udall made a special trip to the White River National Forest this week as part of the effort to select the tree that will display at the Capitol in Washington DC this holiday season.
Late last year Udall, along with Sen. Michael Bennet and Rep. Scott Tipton announced that the nation’s official 2012 Christmas tree would be coming from Colorado.
On Monday Udall was seen considering trees that might be up to the job.
The tree will be an Engelmann Spruce, and in addition to sending the tree to Washington, forest workers will be making ornaments out of trees killed by pine beetles.
