Police Arrest Suspect In Fatal Hit & Run Of Toddler

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police have arrested a suspect involved in the fatal hit-and-run of a child in southwest Denver.

Detective John White said on Tuesday around 6:19 p.m. officers responded to a call of a hit-and-run in the 4400 block of West Nevada Place.

"The suspect vehicle fled westbound on West Nevada Place. The child was transported to Swedish Medical Center by ambulance and later pronounced deceased," White said in a statement.

White said the 3-year-old girl was crossing in the middle of the block when the vehicle traveling westbound struck the child.

Police later arrested Omar Gonzalez, 33. He's being held for investigation felony hit-and-run resulting in death and felony child abuse/criminal negligence resulting in death.
