LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – Lakewood police would like the public’s help locating a couple who allegedly took their 2-year-old daughter in violation of a court order.
Police said around 11:50 p.m. on Saturday Shayla Nelson, 18, left her mother’s home with her daughter, Valerie Allison. Nelson was only permitted to have supervised visits with her daughter in the presence of Social Services.
Investigators believe Nelson and her daughter are with Valerie’s father, Josiah Antony Garcia, 18, who has a restraining order preventing him from seeing both Nelson and their daughter.
They may be in a maroon or red Toyota sedan bearing Colorado license plate 798-SYV.
“There is reason to believe that the child is in imminent danger. This is a custody violation and the Lakewood Police Department would like to know their whereabouts and make contact with them,” police said in a statement.
Police said the incident has not warranted an Amber Alert.
Any with information is asked to call the Lakewood Police Department at (303) 987-7111.
