Colorado Man Who Shot At Nebraska Police Gets Prison Sentence

OGALLALA, Neb. (AP) — A Colorado man accused of firing at law enforcement officers during a chase in western Nebraska in 2010 has been sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison.

Forty-one-year-old Mark Phillips, of Louisville, Colo., pleaded no contest in April to two counts of attempted first-degree assault. Court records show he was sentenced on Friday in Keith County District Court.

Authorities say Phillips fired at two officers in rural Keith County after fleeing a traffic stop near Ogallala on Dec. 8, 2010. The officers fired back and wounded Phillips.
