SHERIDAN, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Sheridan are investigating an attempted child abduction that happened Wednesday.

The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 4300 block of South Lowell.

The victim’s mother says she saw another woman carrying her 2-year-old son towards a white van. The mother yelled at the woman who dropped the child and ran away.

“I’m still shaking, my hands are still shaking, my chest is still beating fast,” mother Desiree Gonzales said. “I couldn’t breathe, my legs felt like I ran 20 twenty flights of stairs. I had this big old choke in my throat, I couldn’t breathe.”

Gonzales says her son got out of their apartment in this complex through the front door, accidentally left open by an older sibling.

“I told her a couple more times, ‘Hey you know that’s my son, that’s my son, and she just dropped him,’ ” Gonzales said.

The van was being driven by a black man and was last seen on Quincy Avenue headed west. The suspect was described as an Asian female with dark shoulder-length hair.

“I hope they get caught because if they try to do it with my kid I’m sure they’re going to try it again.”

Sheridan police say the woman is described as Asian, about 30 years old. She’s around 5-foot-5, 120 pounds with dark shoulder length hair. The van is described an older panel van with a possible temporary plate and rust on the bottom of the doors.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sheridan police.
