WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) – A new software program is making sure emergency responders already have people’s vital information when they call 911.

The Smart 911 software program went live on Tuesday. It covers Lakewood, Arvada, Westminster and parts of Jefferson County.

Police say the program makes sure that responders have someone’s basic information as soon as they call 911.

“What happens during emergencies is people are chaotic, it’s stressful,” Cheri Spottke with Westminster police said. “This allows us to have information questions that we don’t need answered that will already be there for operators to put out to the officers.”
