Man Assaults Woman At Gunpoint On Road South Of Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities in Boulder County are sending out a warning after a woman was sexually assaulted at gunpoint.

The woman, who is in her 40s, stopped to check her GPS along Highway 93 just south of Boulder Sunday night.

The woman had been visiting friends in Boulder but got lost on the way home and stopped to check her GPS.

"Suddenly there was a guy at her door and he asked if she was okay. He produced a gun, forced her out of her car at gun point and was pretty aggressive with her," said Sgt. Brian Lindsey of the Boulder County Sheriff's Department. "He was pretty fast and pretty aggressive and seemingly someone (who wasn't doing this for the first time)."

Investigators say the suspect is a white man. He was driving an SUV similar to a Jeep Cherokee.

Anyone who happened to be on that stretch of road Sunday night is asked to call the Boulder Sheriff's office. That particular stretch of road can be very dark at night and is often deserted.
