Cabin Burns To The Ground In Gilpin County

GILPIN COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Firefighters from five fire departments rushed to help extinguish a cabin that was engulfed in flames Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out after noon on Friday at a cabin in Gilpin County. Lightning sparked the fire.

Firefighers from Timberline Fire, Central City Fire, Black Hawk Fire, Coal Creek Fire and Nederland Fire along with local law enforcement rushed to the scene.

The cabin was engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived. The blaze spread to a few trees but crews were able to quickly keep the fire from spreading.

No evacuations were ordered but a reverse 911 call was sent to residents within a half-mile radius advising them of the cabin fire and to prepare in case an evacuation was ordered.

No one was hurt in the fire.
