LAKE GEORGE, Colo. (CBS4) – The Arkansas Fire burning near Lake George was 100 percent contained Friday evening.
All evacuations connected with the wildfire were cancelled earlier in the day.
The wildfire broke out Wednesday in Park County a mile south of Highway 24.
By Friday morning the fire was about 50 percent contained.
It has burned 30 acres on Colorado State land and the Pike National Forest.
One firefighter was treated for altitude sickness during the firefight and is expected to be okay.
Approximately 100 firefighters were working on the fire and there were two helicopters involved.
Moisture that fell over the fire Friday along with cooler temperatures helped fire crews get the upper hand on the fire.
Mop-up operations are expected to continue for several days where crews will extinguish smoldering trees and logs along the fire perimeter. People may see smoke within the interior of the fire during this time.
Lightning started the fire.
