Wyoming Sends Helicopter To Help Fight High Park Fire

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming National Guard helicopter is being sent to Colorado to help fight a wildfire there.

Gov. Matt Mead's office says the state of Colorado asked for a Wyoming Guard Black Hawk helicopter and its four crew members to help in the fight against a fire west of Fort Collins.

The state of Colorado will pay the cost of using the helicopter.

Mead says he's pleased to help out a neighbor facing a serious fire.

Three of the Wyoming Guard's Black Hawks proved effective in helping fight the Guernsey State Park wildfire in southeast Wyoming on Monday. The fire in the state park went from 20 percent contained on Monday to 80 percent contained on Tuesday.

The Wyoming helicopter and crew will be on loan to Colorado for 15 days.
