DENVER (CBS4) – More air support could soon be on the way to fight forest fires after the U.S. Senate just passed a bill to buy at least seven more air tankers for the U.S. Forest Service.
Dropping fire retardant from air tankers is essential in the fight against large fires, but the current fleet of tankers gets spread thin when several fires are burning at once.
Colorado Sen. Mark Udall sponsored the bill. He’s calling on the House to pass it.
