Don Campbell, Author Of 'The Mozart Effect,' Dies

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Author Don G. Campbell, who wrote "The Mozart Effect," has died of pancreatic cancer.

His publicist says Campbell, of Boulder, died Saturday in Colorado. He was 65.

Campbell wrote 23 books including "The Mozart Effect," whose related audio recordings were top sellers in the late 1990s. The book touted the effects of music on the body, mind and creativity.

He also founded the Institute of Music, Health and Education in Boulder in 1988 and was director of the Sound and Music Institute at the New York Open Center.

The American Music Research Center at the University of Colorado Boulder is creating a collection to house his materials, including 200 private letters from French composer, conductor and teacher Nadia Boulanger.
