Flags At Half Staff For Slain Englewood Officer
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Gov. John Hickenlooper has ordered flags on public buildings be lowered to half staff in honor of an Englewood police officer who was killed in a hit-and-run collision.
Flags are being lowered Friday, the day 39-year-old Jeremy Bitner will be buried.
Bitner and a motorist he had pulled over were struck by an SUV shortly after midnight Monday. The motorist survived.
Police say the SUV drove off. Officers found it and the driver several miles away.
Twenty-year-old Conner Donohue was arrested. He was being held on $100,000 bond on suspicion of vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.
