Commerce City Memorial Day Parade 2nd Largest In Nation

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - The second largest Memorial Day parade in the nation was held in Commerce City on Monday.

Commerce City has proudly carried on that tradition for nearly 50 years.

The parade route is more than two miles long and had nearly 150 entries this year. It's also the largest in Colorado.

The theme this year was, "We live their memory daily through our freedom." The parade honors all of those who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces.

One of the grand marshals this year was George Seader, a World War II veteran. He was born in 1918 and one of 10 brothers to all serve in the armed forces.

"Well, I want them to appreciate them ... what they've done and what they're doing." Seader said.

Another important message parade organizers wanted to get across was to learn as much as one can from World War II veterans who are still alive. Hundreds and hundreds of veterans from that war die every day.

The parade has been going strong for 48 years.
