PENROSE, Colo. (CBS4) - A mom and her little girl are safe at home after getting stranded overnight during a hike.

Angela Stiner and her 8-year-old daughter Alysia arrived at the Beaver Creek trailhead just north of Penrose around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The pair was reported missing when they still hadn't returned home by 10 p.m.

Search crews found the pair just before noon Monday.

Stiner said the trail was longer than they thought and when it started to get dark they decided to stay put until daylight.

More than 50 people assisted in the search.
