You aren’t the only one looking for shelter in the Denver heat. Summer is here and so are the bugs. Colorado is home to many different types of bugs including spiders, ants, bees and many more. Bugs can invade our homes at any time throughout the year, but summer is the prime time for many. The more you know about these pests, the more at ease you and your entire family will feel.

First of all, it’s important to know which insects are invading our city this summer. For the Denver summer months, it is commonly cockroaches, mosquitoes and stinging insects such as wasps, bees, hornets and yellow jackets. If you are unsure of what you have to look out for, there are plenty of pest-control services in Denver who can help.

1. Cockroaches
It’s important to keep your home clean as to not attract bugs such as cockroaches. Almost everyone has had the awful moment of discovering one in your home or yard and it is definitely not a good feeling. It’s imperative to keep your lawn cut and your house clean. This is the number one way to keep these pests away, but that may not be enough. These disgusting insects can be taken care of easily with a pest-control company.

2. Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are another annoying summer bug. With the mixture of the hot summer heat and rain showers, it’s a perfect combination for these pesky insects. Be sure to keep bug spray with you when you are outside hiking, working in the yard or laying by the pool. That is the best way to deal with these bugs.

3. Stinging Insects
Last, but certainly not least, stinging insects such as bees, wasps, hornets and yellow jackets love the hot and dry climate in Colorado. They can be a serious problem, and if you or a family member is allergic to their stings, it can make for a scary situation as well. Bees love flowers, so you should be especially careful in summer gardens. If you notice a nest or an overabundance of these insects, you can call a pest-control company to help remove them.
