AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – Investigators are trying to figure what caused an apartment fire in Aurora Saturday morning.
The fire broke out in the 15000 block of East Arizona just before 9 a.m. Firefighters contained the fire to just one unit, but the blaze did spread to the chimney before crews could knock it down.
“All I hear is just, ‘Fire, fire, everybody get out.’ And then I look at this guy who knocked on everyone’s door, that’s when I saw everybody coming out,” resident Alex Avitia said. “I was like, ‘It’s probably just some kids messing around.’ I come outside and I see huge flames outside on the balcony. That’s when it really got serious and I knew I had to get everybody out.”
No one was hurt in the fire.
The Red Cross is helping two adults and six children who were displaced in the fire.
