Aurora Police Search For Gunman Who Shot Teen Driver

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora are searching for the gunman who shot a teenage girl while she was driving.

At about 8:20 p.m. Thursday officers rushed to reports of a shooting near Del Mar Park.

When the arrived, officers found the teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There were three other people inside the car at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.

"They don't know if this was a fight that occurred earlier and just ended here or if it was a road rage incident. We don't even know if anyone in those vehicles knew each other," said Aurora Police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson.

The teen was driving north bound in the 200 block of North Peoria Street when a car drove up behind them, began to pass and then a passenger in that car shot into the girl's vehicle several times.

The victim drove up onto the sidewalk and stopped. The suspect vehicle took off toward Del Mar Parkway.

Detectives continue to interview witnesses about the shooting.

They are looking for a tan or brown Toyota Camry that may have been involved in the shooting.
