DENVER (CBS4)- There are major closures in place for drivers who travel Interstate 225. It’s the final phase of the widening project.
The construction will take place on I-225 between Mississippi and Parker. When the project is completed, the interstate will be three lanes in each direction. There will also be a light rail extension for trains.
The bridge over Yale Avenue will be torn down beginning Friday at midnight. Alternate routes include Iliff and Peoria. A new bridge will reopen in December.
All lanes of I-225 will close between Parker and Iliff from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday.
An estimated 115,000 vehicles travel that section of I-225 every day.
