Learn How To Get In Foot The Door Of Companies That Are Hiring

DENVER (CBS4) - Those who are discouraged in their job hunt, take note. Employers in five industries in Colorado say they can't find enough people to hire.

4 On Your Side Money Saver Suzanne McCarroll reported on those industries. (Read the story). They are machinists, accounting, executive assistants, travel and leisure and truck drivers. But how do you find those jobs, and how do you train for them?

Want to be a trucker? Go to truck driving school.

"I don't think it's hard, but they do look into your background, your criminal background, and your motor vehicle record," Bonnie Babcock with Sage Technical Services said.

Like most of the students at Sage Technical Services, Kevin Fitch already has two job offers waiting for him.

"As soon as completion of school," Fitch said.

Fitch said the companies will reimburse him for driving school costs.

Big hotel chains are looking for hourly workers and management trainees. The best place to find those job openings are on the hotels' websites.

Places like A&L Machinery are looking for skilled workers but will often hire untrained workers for openings. Employers in that field suggest calling companies directly.

Executive assistants need to be organized and computer savvy when applying to corporations looking for help.

If you're a numbers person, there are 1,000 staff accounting jobs in Colorado. Angela Roberts is a full-time recruiter at Aclivity.

"Go back and get a masters degree in accounting on top of a graduates degree is an excellent way to walk into the CPA field," Roberts said.
