Girder Installation To Close West Colfax At Federal Boulevard

DENVER (CBS4) - A bridge girder installation scheduled to take place over West Colfax Avenue for the new Federal Boulevard Bridge over Colfax Avenue Monday night has been rescheduled for Tuesday night.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said inclement weather forced the delay.

"Weather permitting, CDOT will install 12 bridge girders over east and west Colfax for the new Federal Boulevard (State Highway 88) bridge over Colfax Avenue (US 40)," Tara Galvez with CDOT said in a statement. "The work will require full closures of Colfax Avenue and Federal Boulevard, weather permitting."

The following closures are scheduled for Tuesday night:

-- Eastbound and westbound Colfax Avenue: All lanes of eastbound and westbound Colfax Avenue at Federal Boulevard will be closed Tuesday night from 6 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next day. Detour signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closure.

-- Northbound and southbound Federal Boulevard at Colfax Avenue: All lanes of northbound and southbound Federal Boulevard at Colfax Avenue will be closed Tuesday night from 6 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the next day. Detour signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closure.

Major delays are expected and alternate routes are strongly advised.

"CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to 'Slow for the Cone Zone,' " Galvez said.
