Aurora Police Kill Man Who Pointed Gun At Them
AURORA, Colo. (AP) -- The Aurora Police Department says officers shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at them and refused their orders to drop it.
The department says in a statement that officers responding to reports of shots fired late Friday discovered a man inside a detached garage. The garage's service door appeared to have two shotgun blasts.
Police say the man emerged with a shotgun in his hands. They say he fired one round, but the target was unclear. Police say the man ignored officers' orders to drop the gun, then turned toward them and pointed his gun at them. That's when a uniformed officer fired his gun, striking the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced dead at a hospital. His name hasn't been released.
No officers were injured. Detectives are interviewing several officers and witnesses.
