Littleton Scout Receives 'Honor Medal' For Helping Save Friend's Life

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - A Littleton Boy Scout received a big honor on Saturday. Michael Linneman was awarded the Honor Medal for helping save a friend's life.

In 2010 Linneman and five other scout friends were hiking the Massey Draw in the Ken Caryl area. One of their friends, Chris Barton, fell down the trail, off a cliff and tumbled down the mountain. Linneman and the other scouts raced to his aid.

"It started out just as such a fun day and then instantly it just turned into, 'Oh my God, my friend might have just died.' I thought it was a pretty big shock," Linneman said.

Linneman says their scout training had them all well prepared.

The Honor Medal is given to scouts who demonstrate unusual heroism and resourcefulness in saving someone's life.
