Mysterious Illness Forces School To Close In Erie
ERIE, Colo. (CBS4) - Weekend clean-up is under way after a mysterious illness closed an Erie school on Friday.
Nearly 100 students and staff members got sick.
There's no word on what caused the illnesses at Blackrock Elementary School in Erie. The Weld County health department recommended the school cancel classes for the day. There just weren't enough students at school to warrant class.
Custodians will work overtime this weekend to disinfect the entire building hoping to calm parents who might be keeping healthy children home.
"Once we started hearing the rumors we pulled our kids out of school out of fear that our kids might be susceptible to it as well," a parent told CBS4.
When classes resume on Monday the school is hoping attendance is back to normal.
