Armed Robbers Shoot Clerk Upon Entry Into Store

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - A convenience store clerk is recovering after he was shot in the arm during a robbery Thursday night.

Police say the gunmen also fired shots at customers, but missed. It happened Thursday night at Paymon's Mini Mart near 11th and Yosemite in Aurora.

Police say the two men came in and shot the clerk right away before grabbing money from the cash register. One of the suspects also fired shots in the direction of customers, but no one else was hurt.

"It was as ugly, as bad as, as nasty as it could be," store owner Ray Ghamali said.

"For whatever reason he maybe thought that they were joking," Officer Frank Fania with Aurora police said. "Right away he was shot."

Police say the two men were wearing hooded sweatshirts, bandanas over their faces, and one was wearing pink gloves.

"To go in right away and shoot the clerk with what seemed to be unprovoked and no resistance on the part of the clerk; just to shoot him from the beginning, is very concerning," Fania said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police.
