LEGO Fest In Denver Not Just For Kids

DENVER (CBS4)- LEGO lovers are descending on the Colorado Convention Center starting Friday for a weekend of fun.

The "Kids LEGO Fest" runs through Sunday, although all of the Saturday sessions sold out well before the event opened.

It's a chance for families to get up close and personal with life-sized characters built out of LEGOs including Capt. Jack Sparrow, Darth Vader, Batman, The Incredible Hulk and the characters from Harry Potter.

Watch CBS4 reporter Justin McHeffey's preview of the event from Friday's CBS4 Morning News.

But this is a real hands-on experience for families.

"This is an all-ages event," explained Aaron Wartner with the fest. "We've got gajillions of LEGO bricks here. It's an opportunity for kids to engage with Legos like they never experienced it before. It's an awesome event."

And it's really a chance for kids to show off their skills as well.

"We've got all sorts of different activities where the master builders are engaging with the kids," Wartner said. "We've got challenge zones where families can work together and build and play."

Giving a whole new meaning to family bonding.
