Investigators say he was cooperative and the children seemed fine. A short time later he allegedly set the house on fire. Cody and Kailyn were seriously injured in the blaze.

Kaitlyn suffered burns over 50 percent of her upper body and has undergone multiple surgeries. She remains hospitalized.

Cody, 18-months old, has been released.

Police say Johnson is suspected of severely beating his estranged wife before the fire. She had filed for divorce from Johnson in January.
