DENVER (Denver Business Journal) - Colorado's craft brewing industry produces an annual economic impact of $714 million, according to a study scheduled to be released Tuesday that is the first to quantify what the growing industry sector means to the state.

Employing 4,170 people, the 139 breweries in the craft segment are responsible for $483 million in direct economic effect, according to the study done for the Colorado Brewers Guild by the business research division of the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado.

The additions of indirect and induced effect create the final total, which includes $179 million in labor income, the study says.
