Renovated Washington Park Boathouse Reopens
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Parks and Recreation showed off the historic Washington Park Boathouse to the public on Saturday. It was the grand reopening for the landmark which has undergone a major rehabilitation.
An anonymous donor gave $225,000 to retain the Denver icon as a beautiful fixture for everyone to enjoy.
City Councilman Charlie Brown says the makeover reminds him of a famous quote from President Roosevelt.
"'For the benefit of enjoyment of the people,' " Brown said. "That's why this building was built and that's why it has been renovated; for the benefit and enjoyment of the people."
There are already 56 weddings booked for the boathouse. The location was also on the list of Doors Open Denver so residents were able to drop by and see the renovations up close.
