Landlocked Colorado Gets Submarine Honor
DENVER (AP) - Landlocked Colorado is getting a new attack submarine named after the state.
The USS Colorado is one of five being commissioned for states that have not have a ship named for them in nearly 50 years.
Other states being honored include South Dakota, Illinois, Washington and Indiana.
Navy Secretary Ray Mabus says the new submarines will be able to launch cruise missiles, carry naval commandos and conduct surveillance.
