Colorado In Good Shape With Firefighting Equipment

DENVER (CBS4) - The U.S. Forest Service now says the fire danger is high to extreme across most of Colorado.

It's is a big difference from just a few days ago. On Tuesday most of the state had only low to moderate fire danger.

"Right now we're seeing very good resources. We're prepared, we're ready," Steve Segin with the Rocky Mountain Coordination Center. "There's a single-engine tanker as well as two heavy tankers.

Fire managers say Colorado has the resources it needs for this early start to the fire season. Lots of equipment was brought in to fight the Lower North Fork Fire. Three air tankers are staying and a helicopter in South Dakota can be brought at any time. That could change later in the wildfire season.
