Mayor Michael Hancock and Gov. John Hickenlooper also said Thursday that they are declaring Monday “Colorado Rockies Purple Monday” in celebration of the Rockies’ season. They encouraged everone to root for the home team and wear purple clothes.

“The first home game for the Rockies is one of the most exciting times of the year here in Denver,” said Hancock in a prepared statement. “It’s time to get out there, cheer them on and show our team that the whole state is behind them.”
