LoDo Gets Ready To Welcome Rockies Back To Coors Field
DENVER (CBS4) – LoDo is ready to welcome the Rockies back to Coors Field.
On Thursday morning the city got out its purple paint to spruce up Blake Street. An 18 inch purple stripe now runs from 19th Street to 22nd Street.
Crews also painted Rockies logos on the pavement.
If you still want to get tickets to Monday’s home opener against the Giants, the team will be selling Rockpile tickets on Saturday, not on game day. They will be sold starting at 10 a.m. at the Gate A ticket office. Fans can start lining up for wristbands at 7:30 a.m.
Mayor Michael Hancock and Gov. John Hickenlooper also said Thursday that they are declaring Monday “Colorado Rockies Purple Monday” in celebration of the Rockies’ season. They encouraged everone to root for the home team and wear purple clothes.
“The first home game for the Rockies is one of the most exciting times of the year here in Denver,” said Hancock in a prepared statement. “It’s time to get out there, cheer them on and show our team that the whole state is behind them.”
