Fort Carson Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A soldier stationed at Fort Carson has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense said Thursday 26-year-old Staff Sgt. Christopher Brown of Columbus, Ohio, died Tuesday.

The Defense Department says Brown died of wounds from a roadside bomb.

Brown was serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, after spending nearly year in Iraq.

Awards include the Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and an Army Commendation Medal.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Brown's survivors include his wife, two children, his parents and three sisters. The newspaper reports his wife is expecting the couple's third child.
