Rally Held At Capitol For Child Abuse Prevention Month

DENVER (CBS4) - Hundreds of people rallied at the state Capitol Wednesday to prevent child abuse.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Last year there were more than 80,000 reports of possible abuse and neglect of a child in Colorado.

Becky Miller Updike with Colorado Child Protection Ombudsman says it's time to change that.

"Child abuse and neglect is a real problem. It's a community problem, not just a government problem. It's up to all of us to stand together and protect our kids," Miller said.

The rally was organized by Our Kids, Your Kids; a coalition of different groups that help prevent child abuse in our state.
